How to make your poem attractive part-2:
3) Aliteration: In Aliteration the sound of first letter of 2 or more consecutive words
is repeated.
It serves the same purpose as repetition in poetry writing, i.e. it gives a particular tune to the poem while reading it which gives pleasure to the reader and helps the poet to make the poem attractive.
For eg. "Some say the world will end in fire."(reference: first flight)
In the above line from a poem the sound of the two consecutive words some and say is repeated.
4) Resamblance: It means comparing one thing with other. You may have noticed that most of the poets don't like to express anything directly. They will compare it with something else. There are two ways in ehich the comparison can be done.
i)Similie: In this figure of speech the poet will make use of two words, "as" and "like" to compare something with other.
For eg. 1) "She is as peaceful as a dove"
In the above line the peaceful nature of a girl is compared with the peacefulness of a dove.
2) "They fight like cats and dogs"
Here the fight between some people is compared with a fight between cat and dog.
ii) Metaphore: In this method the poets make comparison without using "as" and "like".
For eg."The curtain of night fell upon us."
In this line the darkness of night is compared with a curtain.
This kind of comparisons adds depth to your writing and make it more beautiful. We can write a poem by using simple words but atleast one resamblance should be used to make the readers feel happy and enjoy the poem.
A poem without figures of speeches is like a song without music. A song if sung without music will be beautiful but if we add music to it, it will look much more beautiful. In the same way fig. of speeches make the poem much more attractive than beforeππ.
In my next blog, I would like to answer a very common question asked by people to a poet, "how you get an idea to write a poem?"π€π€✍
