2)How to make your poem attractive?
Hey guys, yesterday we have learnt how to write a poem, and we came to know that its very easy to write a poem. But its not that easy to write a "beautiful poem". Anyone can write a poem but there are very few poets who can write a beautiful poem.
Can you tell me what is a beautiful poem? Its a poem which has the ability to attract the readers with the words or phrases used and how these words or phrases are structured.
So today, we are going to learn about how to make a poem attractive.
Have you ever noticed one thing? When we read a prose like article, story we may feel bored, but we never find a poetry boring. On the contrary we enjoy reding it. Its because of the method in which the words are structured in it.
In a prose we use sentences in a straight, simple way but in poetries they are used in an uneven form. For eg. let's take a sentence, "Sometimes, get lost in the beautiful world of reading" the sentence is written in a simple way. But in a poetry it will be written as,
"In this beautiful reading world
get lost sometimes,"
Have you seen how sentences can be framed unevenly in a poem.
This kind of sentences give a particular tune to the poem which makes it attractive and the readers can enjoy reading it.
There is one more method of making the poem beautiful, i.e. use of figures of speech.
We all have learnt about it in our school. They help the poet to add more beauty in his/her poem to give pleasure to the readers.
Now we are going to learn about some basic figures of speeches and their importance in poetry writing.
1) Personification:
It means personifying a non living thing. In simple words, to give life to non-living things or to assume that they are alive.
For eg. The school was feeling lonely and sad during holidays.
Now a school, which is a non-living thing does'nt have the feelings like sadness or loneliness, but this words are used to describe the silence which is there near the school during holidays. Have you seen how attractive it is?
2)Repetition: In the begining we have seen how to frame sentences. As I have mentioned above, poems are read in a particular tune(the way poems are recited. We can't simply go on reading a poem like a prose) which make them attractive. So sometimes some words are repeated in poems which will make it easy for the reader to give that tune to it while reading.
For eg."with a little black cat and a little grey mouse."(reference: the first flight)
In the above line from a poem, the word little is repeated so that we can read it with a tune which gives us pleasure and makes the poem beautiful.
